Global Security Technician

This opportunity resides with Mission Technologies' Global Security (GS) group, which comprises live, virtual, constructive (LVC) solutions; fleet sustainment; nuclear and environmental; and Australia business. Job Description

  • Performs systems maintenance and operations. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
  • Initiates and or assists in implementing engineering changes configuration management, Job Qualification Standards (JQS), Work Instructions (WI), and Procedures.
  • As senior technician, applies advanced technical knowledge in complex troubleshooting, isolating malfunctions, repair to the component level, and incorporating engineering changes.
  • Work typically requires detailed understanding of the interrelationships of analog, digital, mechanical, and RF operating system diagnostics and circuits. Exercises independent judgment on tasks such as making circuit analyses, calculating waveforms, and tracing relationships in signal flow. Uses complex test instruments such as pulse generators, spectrum analyzers, distortion analyzers, computer analytical equipment, time domain reflectometers, bit error rate testers, signal generators, analog/digital multi-meters, scopes, and high frequency synthesizers.
  • Provides technical guidance to lower-level technicians. Performs organizational, intermediate, and depot-level maintenance on assigned equipment. Performs system operation. Work may be reviewed by supervisor for compliance with accepted practices.
  • Ensure all work performed on your site adheres to environmental, safety, and health standards related to the activity, including the wearing of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Must cease work and notify supervisor, or manager of all unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure all assigned training for site personnel is completed and entered into their respective training jacket.
  • Ensure all work performed on the site accurately documented in the IEMS.
  • Other duties as assigned by the CSM.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • This technician performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work, reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others. Supervisor or professional engineer outlines objectives, requirements, and design approaches. Completed work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements. This incumbent may train and be assisted by lower level technicians, and performs one or a combination of the following:
  • Designs, develops, and constructs major units, devices, or equipment; conducts tests or experiments; analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance; and reports results.
  • From general guidelines and specifications (e.g., size or weight requirements), develops designs for equipment without critical performance requirements that are difficult to satisfy such as engine parts, research instruments, or special purpose circuitry. Analyzes technical data to determine applicability to design problems; selects from several possible design layouts; calculates design data; and prepares layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc. May check and analyze drawings or equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design.
  • Plans or assists in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance. Determines test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conducts tests using all types of instruments; analyzes and evaluates test results, and prepares reports on findings and recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years related experience.
  • Minimum Secret clearance required

Preferred Requirements

  • Previous experience on NITE contract

Physical Requirements

May require working in an industrial or shipboard environment. Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level. May encounter extremes of temperature, pollution, humidity, noise, and other environmental factors while collecting data, observing performance of task teams.
