FMI – The Food Industry Association: We are Hiring a Director of Legal Operations

(Hybrid Role/2 Days in the Office Per Week)

Do you enjoy helping organizations navigate risk and compliance, improve legal processes, and streamline compliance, this might be the position for you!

Quick Snapshot: In this role, you’ll serve as a key advisor to the General Counsel and senior leadership, helping to guide the legal and regulatory strategies that support FMI’s mission and ensure compliance across the association.

What You’ll Do in This Role?

• Support the management of the association’s legal operations to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
• Collaborate with FMI counsel, and leadership to align with regulatory requirements and governing bodies.
• Monitor and interpret relevant regulatory and policy developments, advising leadership on legal implications and risks.
• Oversee the review and approval of contracts, speaker materials, and other key documents to ensure legal and ethical compliance.
• Coordinate with external counsel as needed and lead staff training on legal topics such as compliance, antitrust, and risk mitigation.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful:

• A Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited institution required. You must be admitted to practice in a state.
• Five to seven years of relevant legal operations or compliance experience, preferably within a trade association or similar organization.
• A strategic mindset with the ability to quickly analyze facts and summarize findings.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including presentation and public speaking skills.
• Stellar writing, research, and analytical skills.
